RFQ (Request for Quotation)

A Request for Quotation (RFQ) is a simplified procurement method used for readily-available goods, standard items, or minor works below a threshold value set by the procuring agency's rules — where a full formal tender process would be disproportionate to the purchase.

Unlike an RFP, an RFQ doesn't typically require a separate technical proposal — suppliers are usually asked to quote a price against a short, well-defined specification or item list, and the agency compares quotes (often three or more) before awarding to the lowest responsive quote. Under PPRA-style rules this method is generally limited to procurements below a prescribed financial threshold; above that threshold, agencies must use full open competitive bidding instead. On TenderPK, RFQ-style purchases are usually published under the "Goods" category rather than as a separate listing type.
